Pioneer Hi-Bred oilseed rape hybrid PR46W21 is the highest yielding variety ever on HGCA Recommended List (East & West)

Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont Business, launches winter oilseed rape (OSR) hybrid PR46W21, the highest yielding variety ever on the HGCA Recommended List  (East & West). PR46W21 tops the HGCA Recommended List outyielding by at least 3 % compared to all other varieties. PR46W21 has a gross output yield of 111 % compared to the selected control varieties, and contains close to 46 % oil.

Pioneer® Brand PR46W21 is a fully restored tall oilseed rape hybrid that consistently combines the highest seed yields and oil content compared to all other oilseed rapes tested in the East and West HGCA Recommended List.

The performance trials conducted by the HGCA found that Pioneer hybrid PR46W21 has also the best combination of lodging resistance and stem stiffness of all non semi-dwarf types. "PR46W21 provides higher yields and oil content while providing excellent standability and profitability. A great choice for increasing the productivity and profitability of UK and Irish OSR growers", added Andy Stainthorpe.

The high performance of PR46W21 is due to Pioneer's unique hybrid breeding programme and the continued research advancements in oilseed rape. "This is the latest example of Pioneer's exciting range of high performing OSR hybrids that will be available for UK and Irish growers this season and subsequent seasons as we ramp up research and product commercialization", concluded Andy Stainthorpe.

To make it onto the HGCA list , products must meet certain yield and agronomic targets after being tested for typically at least three years.
